Adah Rodgers Weaver, 94, died November 12, 2009 in Lake Forest, IL. She was born April 13, 1915 in New Carlisle, IN to Virgil and Ada Rodgers. She attended Manchester College majoring in Elementary Education and there met the love of her life, Welcome Weaver. Adah returned to New Carlisle and taught second grade for five years, after which she and Welcome were married on June 28, 1941. Welcome and Adah moved to Huntington, IN in 1945 where they joined the family business, Weaver Popcorn Company. During the 51 years they lived in Huntington, Adah was an active member of Tri Kappa, First Mother’s Club, P.E.O., and Trinity Methodist Church. Adah also enjoyed playing bridge, growing roses, wearing her many hats, and surrounding herself with her friends and family. All of her life, Adah loved children. This love is evident in her work in the schools, as a loving mother to her own three children and as a supportive and devoted grandmother. She is survived by her children, Pat (David) Quade of Lake Bluff, IL, Mike (Becky) Weaver of Carmel, IN, and Barbara (Dr. Wayne) Mohr of Green Bay, WI. She is survived by six grandchildren, Kristin Quade (Kevin) Cammarata, Elizabeth Weaver, William (Laura) Weaver, Andrew (Kirsten) Mohr, Benjamin Mohr, and Kathryn Mohr and four great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Natalie Cammarata and Issac and Jordan Weaver. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Alice Horvath of New Carlisle and Vivian Purvis of Fort Wayne, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Welcome, in 2003, her grandson, David Welcome Quade in 1995, her brother, Carr Rodgers, and her sister, Martha Holaday. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1380 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL. A burial will be held at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington. The family thanks the staff of Balmoral Health at Lake Forest Place and Midwest Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to IL State Chapter, P.E.O. Sisterhood, 153 E.Laurel Avenue, # 202, Lake Forest, IL 60045 which will be used toward Chapter MQ of IL Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice. Info.
