Mueller, Donna Dean Klann: Donna died peacefully with her family by her side on December 7, 2009. She was born on September 1, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Downer’s Seminary and then received a degree in Art History from Wellesley College. Living much of her life in Lake Forest, Illinois, she was the first female President of the Lake Forest High School Board of Education. She was also on the Lake Forest Zoning Board as well as the Lake Forest Planning Board. In addition, she was President of Family Services of Lake County as well as serving on the boards of the Independence Center, the Hadley School for the Blind and A Safe Place. Her lifelong interest in the arts continued while serving on the boards of The Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Botanic Garden.Donna was a worldwide traveller and enjoyed telling her family and friends of her wonderful adventures to all 7 continents, the North Pole, the Amazon and many places in between. She was an avid and competitive tennis and paddle tennis player but was always a frustrated golfer. Her knowledge of sports was only superseded by her enjoyment of both preparing and attending lectures on authors, art history and architecture. She enjoyed word games, bridge, gardening and classical music. And Donna would always have a book nearby even while listening to the loons on Trout Lake in Northern Wisconsin, her favorite place in the world. She is survived by her children John (Anne), Steve (Kathy) and Kam Walters (Jamie) and her ten wonderful grandchildren: Steve, Jennifer, Chris, Ryan, Brett, Kelly, Blake, Cori, Jeff and John. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
