TSCHANZ, Willard R. Tschanz, 91, a resident of Lake Forest since 1966, passed away on June 24, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Kathryn “Kay”, sons John W. (Rita), Charles M. (Anne), and Thomas T. (Anne) Tschanz; daughter Mary Kay Tschanz; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was born on August 13, 1918 in Monticello, WI. He grew up and attended school in Monroe, WI, and graduated in 1940 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Willard served in the United States Navy in Europe during World War II, returning in late 1945 with the last five U. S. Navy ships left in northern Germany after mass transfer of naval forces from Europe to the Pacific upon the surrender of Germany. He was preceded in death by his father John in 1948, his mother Emma in 1983, his twin brother William in 1986, and his sister Helen Burger in 2004. He was employed many years with Kraft Foods, beginning in 1947 in Greenbay, WI. He relocated several times with the Company to positions in Chicago, San Francisco (residence in Menlo Park, CA), and finally back to Chicago in 1966. He moved to Lake Forest in 1966 and retired in 1983. Willard served for many years as a Volunteer at Lake Forest Hospital after his retirement and was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Funeral mass 11:30 a.m. Mon., June 28th at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, and WI 12 Noon Tues. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to PRMAA (retirement fund for priests), 730 N. Wabash, Chicago, IL 60611.
