Peter John Bussone, 92, of Lake Forest, IL, died from pneumonia on Feb. 28, 2012 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. He was born April 9, 1919 in North Lake Location, Michigan and graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1938. His 1936 football team went undefeated and unscored- upon in an eight game season. He attended Lake Forest College from 1940-41, joined the U.S. Navy at Great Lakes, IL during WWII serving 54 months in the South Pacific Theatre. He then returned to Lake Forest College graduating in 1948. While there, he was elected into Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges in 1948 and into the Lake Forest College’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1978. Peter joined the faculty of LFC as Baseball Coach and as Asst. Baseball & Basketball Coach. He also served as Director of intramurals and Boy’s P.E.M. classes there while attending night classes at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL receiving a Master’s Degree in 1951. He joined the FBI in 1952 as a Defensive Tactics Instructor serving in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Chicago retiring in 1977. After leaving the Bureau, he worked part time at Indian Hill Club on several maintenance jobs. In 2000 he worked part time at the Deerpath Golf Course as a ranger. His loving spouse, Virginia nee Kelley, preceded him in death in 2008 and is survived by his daughter, Patricia Frahm, sons Peter John, Jr. (Kerrie) and Albert (Karen) Bussone, 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and by his two brothers; Michael of Texas and Albert of Florida. Funeral mass, 10 a.m. Monday, April 9th, at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lake Forest.
