Grotts, Geraldine (Gerry), [assed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2012, with her four children gathered around her. Gerry was born in Fitchburg Township, Dane County, Wisconsin, on May 2, 1926, to Nathan York and Mary Theresa (White) Keenan. Preceded in death by husband, Dr. John Grotts, and sister Dorothy Keenan. Survived by brothers Robert Keenan (Janet) and Paul Keenan (Lois) of Oregon, Wis., sister Helen Senger of East Grand Forks, Minn., and sister Louise Stankevich of Madison, Wis. Children are Jim Grotts of Lake Forest, Ill., Bob Grotts of La Crosse, Wis., Bill Grotts of Kansas City, Mo., and Patty Grotts Kelly (Dan) of Hopkins, Minn. Grandchildren are John Robert Grotts, Amy Grotts Steffen (Robert), Laura Gray Kelly, and Rose Maureen Kelly. Before starting her family, Gerry worked as an x-ray technician at Evanston Hospital. She lived in Lake Forest for more than 50 years, caring for her family and volunteering at school, as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and for St. Patrick Church, where she led the sewing group for many years. A talented quilter, she created many beautiful quilts for her family and friends. Gerry lived an energetic and productive life, even after a difficult year of treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2009. She had many friends from many different circles, including P.E.O., St. Patrick’s Church, the Deerpath Women’s Golf League, and her bowling group. Gerry loved her family, golf, gardening, sewing, traveling, her cats and dogs, and being on-the-go at all times. She was a great Mom, Grandma, and friend, and her lively, loving spirit will be part of us forever. Memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society preferred (www.lls.org; 888-557-7177). Memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 24, at St. Patrick's Little Church, 991 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
